Re-imagined Carson Street

Re-imagined Carson Street

The plans for the new Carson Street design could be alerted, but more than likely – only slightly. The narrowing of Carson Street will occur, is there a chance of delaying or stopping this development? Possibly, but in reality: more than likely, no.

The model presented to the community does not demonstrate how we go from four lanes down to two lanes of traffic. I am only presuming there will be a roundabout at each end of Carson Street to allow traffic to funnel into the new design.

Will businesses in the corridor use the widened sidewalks to sever customers?  They certainly cannot be forced into utilizing this new area.

What will be interesting: snow removal and how this will be accomplished; what modifications are made to the north and south Carson Street to accommodate the continuation of the bike lanes; what events are planned after the ribbon cutting for this 7 million investment; will property owners contribute funding for the maintenance and upkeep of the added footage in front of the buildings; how will the new hotel and convention center (near the Nugget) tie into the purpose reduction of traffic lanes.

Citizens have a right to be heard regarding this, not sure at this juncture that those who express their opposition to the narrowing of Carson Street, will sway any Board member from voting in favor of the project, since the majority voted to approve the 1/8 of a cent sale tax that will fund this project and numerous others.
