Government entities such as the city 's public work division of road and sidewalk repair/ maintenance, ( if there is such a department I have no idea) if you don't like who they are and what and how they are doing things - well not much you can do about it. You're stuck. You can call and complain send an email - you will eventually get a response.

If this make believe department were run like a business, a high priority would be to take care of the consumer. In politics - that person who once was the consumer nows gets renamed a constituent, but in City government they remain the tax payer.

And, just like that old time suggestion box - once the complaint goes in - what happens next forever remains a mystery. Suppose, just suppose that a laundry list of work request verse completion of work was made available to the public, who would it empower? Those doing the work or those requesting the work? I think both. Here's why - it will allow both parties to face the truth and that is simply how much work there is to do, how each item is prioritized, then finalized with completion. It shows taxpayers that yes indeed there is a whole lot of work to do and for the most part it is being completed in a timely manner with the available staff.

Having these measurements would provide an insight to not only management, it would also provide insight to the Board as well.

It will improve service based upon the fundamental nitty-gritty of supply and demand. This system will assist in determining the need to hire more employees, performance bonuses, and solve the core problem of politics - satisfying constituents everyday not just during the election cycle.
