With the selection of Mr. Nick Marano, as our new City Manager the previous trends of the past may actually become a memory of how things were done in the past.

UPDATE
I purposed keeping the property tax at $3.56 rather than lowering it $3.54 as my counter parts are suggesting for the budget. Here is the reason: I want to set the $0.02 aside for capital improvements, which the community desperately needs while proceeding forward to build the budget at $3.54 rate.

The 1/8 of a cent sale tax the members of the Board who approved this tax ( I voted No) - state it will only cost the average citizen $12.00 a year for the next 30 years (+/-).

Lowering the property tax to $3.54 will save a property owner of a $250,000.00 home about $17.00 a year, subtract the $12.00 from the tax increase and now that same property owner will receive roughly $5.00 a year in savings.

Remember that capital improvement projects are (desperately) needed in our community and the funds needed - total in the millions. That is why we need those $0.02 (two pennies) or roughly $5.00 a year to be set aside for capital improvements.
