Regarding Empire Ranch Golf Course
The appraisal came in as:
$1,600,000.00 value as a golf course
verses
$3,500,000.00 value to continue effluent disposal
At the April 3rd Board meeting
I made a motion that an evening session should be held on April 17th so that the working person can attend and have an opportunity to voice their opinion to the Board at a time convenient to their work schedule.
The majority of the Board argued citizens had been given ample time to attend meetings, held at various times and places. However, they failed to acknowledge that those meetings were not Board of Supervisor meeting and were simple public meetings held by city staff.
My motion did receive a second but Supervisor Abowd, Bonkowski and the Mayor voted against it.
On Thursday April 17th Board
My agenda items are:
10A – this would allow the citizens to vote yea or nay to the 1/8 of a cent sale tax.
10B – this would allow the majority of the projects to be funded without an tax increase, by using existing funding.
Budgets Presented to Board Of Supervisor
A special Board of Supervisors meeting for a budget presentation and discussion is scheduled for April 24th.
I inquired if Department Managers will present their individual budget?
Here is the response I received: based upon past practice neither the Board nor the City Manager's office has required Department Heads to make formal budget presentations. The topic was fully discussed by the current Board Members during the last budget cycle and there has been no direction to staff to deviate from past practice.
