Is it wait & see or let’s get moving?

The City Managers last day is December 19th what is critical is when his replacement is selected. If the Deputy City Manager fills that void, will we need to hire a new Deputy City Manager on the 20th ? If not, then one easily could argue why would we need one after that date?

Is the replacement of the City Manager time sensitive?  Is there a sense of urgency? YES & YES

I believe it is very critical that the City start the process today. The Board makes the decision of what consulting firm to use in the recruitment of candidates. The Board can take an earlier action on this, by simply calling an emergency Board meeting for October 24th as all material can without difficulty be provided. The delay of waiting until Nov 7th is unadvised and unacceptable, this process needs to start immediately and it can.

The selection of how the next City Manager is made, will this be the tell tale sign of how all future decisions will/or should be made?

If the City Manager reports to the Board, and those members were elected by citizens then would it not be the same argument as the Board using the 1/8 cent sale tax, for the revitalization of four (yes, now there are four) corridors without needing the approval of the community?  Just asking.
