Staying in touch with citizens

After reading this please forward it to everyone you know

Deep Thoughts, Cheap Shots  &  Bonbons

You are receiving this letter because you are registered voter, and as you're elected Board of Supervisor: my objective is to provide updates regarding some of the issues that have or will have an effect on you, your family and the community in the near future.  Here are a few:

August 22nd Board of Supervisor meeting - By approving the Downtown corridor re-vitalization plan, this only allows City Staff to review the plan, and make recommendations. This vote did not commit the City to do anything more outside of that scope.  The Board was guaranteed that the three other corridors would submit their proposal for improvements, then and only then would the Board consider the feasibility of each and how to fund all improvements in all corridors as a community wide project.

September 5th Board of Supervisor meeting  - Your water, sewer and storm drain rates have been increase  - dramatically.  I alone voted NO to the proposed increase, and strongly opposed the motion to create a community advisory committee to oversee these funds.

My opinion: Our community's future will be mortgaged to our children and our grandchildren they are going to be unwitting recipients of this new bond debt for the water and sewerage treatment plant that we are going to be undertaking. Holding these unsuspecting minors hostage to the mountains of debt to offset past mistakes is irresponsible and reprehensible. We need all elected officials to show up, stand up and stop any type of continuation of financial disasters that are plaguing our past and harming our future; otherwise we just perpetuating a cycle of debt.

·       I voted against the 1.25% tax transfer from the general fund to the Capital projects special revenue fund for public art. As this account has not had funding for quite a few years, but if another type of funding source is provided, it would warrant a new vote.

·       I voted to approve funding from Redevelopment for improvements at the Fairgrounds (Fuji Park).

·       I voted against funding from Redevelopment to the Brewery Art Center to close Minnesota Street, because presently City staff is determining the feasibility of narrowing Carson Street, and all indications suggest that it is definitely in the cards.

While the world has made great technological strides in the workforce Carson City                                    remains somewhat aloof – examples

1.     The Board is approving minutes of their own meetings that were held four months ago.

2.     How the Board votes on agenda items should be posted on the City website within 24hours.

Your input and opinion on these or

other subject matters are appreciated and welcomed.

Thank you for your time
