My objective is to get more Carson City residents engaged in the political process and encourage their engagement with local issues. We can argue politics all day, but, at the end of day we need to find solutions to local issues.
Here are but a few:
Number 1 – Your water and sewer rates are going to increase dramatically, and the financial impact, undoubtedly, will impact your family's monthly budget. [This statement might seem rather strong, but I purposely wanted it to be that way. "This rate increase is strong and far-reaching."]
1.a) I believe, the original intent of the enterprise fund was to help keep costs under control for improvements and upgrades to these types of facilities.
1.b) I voted against the said proposal, my reasoning; another type of formula should be developed.
A meeting will be held on July 16, 2013 at the Community Center. Doors open at 5pm. This event is being held to discuss how and why your rates will be severely increased. I think, it is imperative that someone represent your family at this meeting.
Number 2 – Rumor has it that the remaining 1/8 sales tax might be used to widen the City sidewalks or narrow the street in some fashion that encompasses those businesses in the downtown corridor.
2.a) Why hasn't the Redevelopment Authority taken the lead on this endeavor? Shouldn't they (Redevelopment) have the financial responsibility to enact any and all improvements?
Number 3 – The reason I voted against:
3.a) Eagle Valley Golf lease; because bids from the general public were not allowed. It is unacceptable for City government not to allow the process to be open and fair to all.
3.b) Hiring a Deputy City Manager; because other similar type communities operate efficiently without this position. The position will now almost double the cost of running this office.
Please forward this email to family and friends, they should attend the meeting being held on
July 16, 2013 at the Community Center at 5pm
