The implementation to narrow the street must first be voted on by the Board of Supervisors - and that will occur on August 15th. Keep in mind, to date I personally have not be presented any up to date material from City Staff nor the DownTown Group 20/20. (Note: I have on my own attended two of their meetings)
I have been asked will there be any town hall meeting by City Staff similar to those regarding the Library/Knowledge & Discovery Center they provide to the community, the answer - I don't know, but I certainly hope so.
Narrowing of street, some may argue that -
1. Elected officials are suppose to make these decisions.
2. Elected officials are suppose to listen to their constituents, then make a decision. *
* Primarily being an elected official, the single fundamental fact to remember - we are elected to represent our constituents in our Ward as well as the community at large, and all their opinions do matter.
It could presumably be viewed that a Board member who votes in -
Favor of narrowing Carson Street (that it is possible), they will be making a judgement based upon what they believe will be good for the majority of businesses within the community and equally good for the majority of citizens who live within the community.
Opposition to the narrowing of Carson Street (that it is possible), they will be making a judgement based upon what they believe, and that is, they cannot predict that such an action will equally benefit all businesses within the community nor will it benefit the majority of citizens livelihood.
Contact ALL Board members with your opinion.
