Normally, there are not a lot of wide-ranging pressing issues in our community; therefore, some of the questions raised might be: when will the Ormsby House be finished, or when will the City resurface our streets?
Take note, however, as there are numerous pressing issues. Stated in no particular order:
1. Rate increases to water and sewer fees. All Carson citizens will be financially affected either by the way water enters your property or by the way it leaves. Both our water and sewage treatment plants need to be either maintained or upgraded. The Board of Supervisors voted 4 to 1 to approve a rate increase for year 1 of the next 5 years of increases. I voted "nay" for a variety of reasons.
2. Narrowing of Carson Street in the downtown corridor, with the purposed parallel parking, is still a highly contested proposal.
3. Great News – the Carson Mall has indeed signed a lease with a tenant for the vacant 42,000 square foot empty building. HOORAY!
4. Your opinion matters: Should the public help to fund the cultural and arts community? A public art ordinance will be coming before the Board of Supervisors for a vote to implement an art tax - Yes or No? Your input appreciate.
