Bringing government into the 21st century starts with completely rethinking what government should be. The future is not about accessing information about community government, that's easy. It's what we can learn from it, and that can only happen if it is easy to understand.
Knowledge takes power away from the top bureaucratic peers and allows the every day community minded citizen an opportunity to understand how their local government actually works. Collaboration starts with the willingness to actually share information. The new reality of technology can open doors to a two-way stream of information.
Hand held devices is presently allowing people to quietly have a voice - it's all about making sure if you want to have a voice - you can. Finding solutions increasingly should become easier - yet surprisingly they have become more difficult.
Some would say:
"Government is like a slot machine - you put money in - and occasionally the machine will pay out a few goods and services. Fundamental it's decided what you receive prior to putting your coin in the machine - as each machine is preset."
Modernizing anything starts with - our view of the way it is presently. If we don't have vision nothing changes, never will.
